Questions (and Sometimes Answers) About Todd Ogasawara's PocketPC.com articles

Every now and then I get a question about an article I've written for Microsoft's PocketPC.com Club Pocket PC. I'll try to provide answers to questions I get in the mail on this page. Sometimes, though, my answer will simply be I don't know or I made an mistake. I apologize in advance for any and all such responses. The Q&As below are listed in chronological order. The most recent Q&A is at the top of the page. Note: In general, I have not changed any spelling, punctuation, or grammar of the e-mail sent to me and  reproduced below.

NEW! Click here to see the most recent Q&As built using HanDBase & XML I'm working on adding new features and moving over the Q&A items from this legacy page to the new page over the next few weeks.

Database Applications (& Moving from a Palm)
06/05/01 Q
: I currently use a Palm Pilot and a MS Access database synchronization program called thinkDB & dbSync. It allows me to synchronize my desktop MS Access database with the thinkDB database I have on my Palm. I am starting to become a very big fan of the Ipaq and would like to get one. Can you give me some guidance as to what Pocket PC database program I should look at? I checked out your web site, and I see information on the Pocket Database from Pocket Innovations & HandDBase from DDH Software. Are there any other programs I should consider? Which program do you consider to be the best?

A: A good place to start your research is Jason Dunn's Pocket PC Database Options article on PocketPC.com. The only database I've used on the Palm or Pocket PC is HanDBase. So, I'm sorry to say I can't provide a good comparison of the various options available. However, it looks like Pocket DB and Pocket Database might be the first two products you should investigate since they both claim to be able to deal with Access databases. HandyDB and Visual CE also merit investigation.

Synchronizing Birthdates
05/26/01 Q
: Great article on how to get the PowerPoint slides to the Pocket PC via .APV, but does anyone have a serial cable for the device that can hook to a projector?

A: I'm not quite sure what you are asking. What would a serial connection to a projector do? You could not transmit video over such a connection. If you want to display the Pocket PC's video image via a projector, you may want to investigate the ColorGraphic Voyager VGA PCMIA card (work only with a Compaq iPAQ and PC Card sleeve).

Synchronizing Birthdates
05/20/01 Q
: I'm working hard with active sync 3.1 - and mostly good. But one thing I don't understand: The syncornisation of birthtdays. Some times it works some times not and I'm not able to check out any rule. Could I get a patch or a newer version ?

A: (1) You do not provide enough information to start diagnosing the problem. However, in general, the Birthdate field in Contacts does appear to behave erratically. I've seen some birthdates appear a half-dozen times based on a single entry in Contacts. I recommend using the All Day Event option in Calendar to note birthdates instead. (2) The most recent update for ActiveSync 3.1 is dated August 30, 2000. You can find the download on this linked PocketPC.com page.

MSN SPA-POP3 E-mail (again!)
05/19/01 Q
: I downloaded your MSN email for POCKET PC and went through your step by step setup instructions and it still doesn't work. Did something change with MSN mail? Do you have updated instructions on setup?

A: The SMTP address should be changed from the secure.smtp.email.msn.com recommended in my article to smtp.email.msn.com. You don't provide enough information in your e-mail for me to understand the nature of your problem. You should read through my brief MSN E-Mail Problems article on my personal web site to learn if any of those reasons are related to your problem.

Fellowes PDA Survival Kit
05/16/01 Q
: [...] where did you find the Pocket PC Survival Kit for under $49.99?  We've just received our Pocket PCs and several people are asking.

A: I bought the kit from Amazon.com. Unfortunately, it looks like Amazon does not carry that specific product anymore. However, they do carry the various kit components as individual product items. I recommend the Brainwash item. It works well on my various Pocket PC and Handheld PC screens.

HP660LX Handheld PC & Word/Excel
05/13/01 Q
: I noticed your upgrade article on Impressions: Upgrading the HP620LX to Windows CE 2.11 ("Pro") 7/16/99 HP now has Windows CE, Handheld PC Professional Edition, Version 3.0 software included I was considering upgrading my 660LX for the biggest reason I thought I read some where that the new PRO e-mail tool when receiving could convert Excel and Word into readable Pocket versions is this correct?

A: First, you may find it difficult to find an upgrade kit at this late date. I never receive attachments via my Handheld (or Pocket) PC. However, I do not believe Inbox itself has any conversion features. Pocket Word and Excel, however, can export to various desktop file formats. I have not tried to bring in desktop formatted files except via ActiveSync or RTF (for Word) files.

MSN E-mail & Hotmail
05/12/01 Q
: I would like to know if it is possible to use an msn e-mail on my pocket pc to check my hotmail account. Is there any software that can be used to do this?

A: No, you can't do that. MSN E-mail and Hotmail are totally different services. See my 12/14/00 response to this same issue.

MSN E-mail vs. MSN Explorer
05/12/01 Q
: I do hope that you will take a look at this email since I have run into one of those brick walls one encounters when the software does not deliver.

Situation:
1) I bought an iPAQ PPC and tried several ISP (needed nationwide) until I decided on MSN Internet Access.
2) I received and installed the MSN software and made a BIG mistake by not paying attention to the warning about the POP3 MSN email account being converted to web-based...accessible only through a browser.
3) I received and installed MSN Email for PocketPC.

The last step proved to be a two day affair before I got part of it working. What I found out is:

1) that I will not be able to use the pop3 feature of the MSN Email for PocketPC since I converted my MSN account to Web-based, and
2) the word "secure" has to be removed from the smtp line you give in your directions and what is in the installation manual. Talking to an MS tech person I learned that the "secure" caused too many problems and now instructions call for the smtp line to read "smtp.email.msn.com ".

Now with "secure" removed, I can send but not receive email from my inbox with MSN as a new Service. Tech person told me that I will have to use my PPC IE to access the MSN web site to retrieve email. As you know, it is much more difficult to navigate the small screen on a web site that the INBOX. Prior to MSN I had a local ISP whose service was exceptional locally but not nationally. But even with my local ISP, the reason I switched was that I could not use INBOX as a POP3 server because my local smtp service required authentication. And as you know, there is no box to check for that on the setup in INBOX.

What a crock! I do not understand why MS would put the software out on the market if they knew it would not work. I've gone through your directions and those of MS and have read all sorts of msgs from discontents who are finding one problem or another with the MSN Email for PPC.

A: I've documented the MSN Explorer issue in my MSN E-mail for Pocket PC commentary on this web site. I'll document the SMTP changes in an update to that page. MSN SPA-POP3 e-mail and the MSN Explorer e-mail issues are perennial thorns in the sides of Windows CE users in general. Handheld PC owners still can't retrieve MSN SPA-POP3 e-mail! It is one of those cases of the left-hand not knowing what the right-hand is doing.

ActiveSync Tips, Tricks, & Tweaks article correction
04/25/01 Q
: [The article says] Always replacing items on the Pocket PC. In other words, the notebook or desktop PC information is always "right." For example, people who use their Pocket PC most of the time for entering new information find this choice best for them. [The Reader says] The highlighted sentence is wrong in that it should not say "Pocket PC" but instead "notebook or desktop PC".

A: You are quite right! Thank you for catching my error!

Casio E-115/125 Bi-fold and Flip-top Carrying Cases
04/18/01 Q

A: Both cases (bi-fold and flip-top) for the Casio E-115/125 in the photograph you mention were purchased directly from Casio: Casio Accessories Link.

Finding AvantGo Modem Sync
04/18/01 Q
: I read your article on Sync AvantGo by Modem June 8, 2000 on pocketpc web site it looks great, but unfortunately on my pocket PC (HP Jornada 548) default page for internet explorer, I have not the link "More Web Sites" and cannot access the tool menu with "Modem Sync" link as indicated. Instead I have Avant Go after the A. Any idea what to do[?]

A: It is the same on all Pocket PCs. You probably just missed seeing the extremely tiny lettering. Click on AvantGo on your default Pocket Internet Explorer home page. Scroll to the bottom of the page. [Note: You may have to click a linked text first since AvantGo now has an annoying full page advertisement that displays the first time you go to the AvantGo page after a sync]. Tools is in a tiny gray colored font near the bottom of the page.

NSBasic/CE for Beginners
03/02/01 Q
: I read your article on NS Basic CE now for the Pocket PC and I
have a few beginner questions for you:

1) I would like to learn programming for the Pocket PC. Is this a good way
of getting started?

2) What I want most is to create a nice tree outlining program that can
have many expanding/collapsable braches and sub branches. I had a program
like this on my old visor deluxe and for the life of me I can not figure
out why there isn't a decent one for the Pocket PC. So my question, Is this
beyond the scope of NS Basic CE?

Note: I want to be able to Brainstorm ideas and not create a note taker
program. Would also like to be able to drag and drop.

3) Can a beginner like me do this or is beyond the scope and intent of NS
Basic CE?

Am I dreaming or could NS Basic actually do the above?

A: I suggest visiting the NSBasic/CE Support page. You can find tools and a community that can address your questions better and in more depth than I can.

Connecting a Handheld PC to the Internet
03/02/01 Q
: Hello my name is [name deleted] and I wrote the support unit for how to connect my 4600 mobilon sharp handheld pc to internet. Of course I have tried all these things and nothing works. It connects, but disconnects cannot initalize service from remote. I can not express that this is a handheld pc not a regular pocket pc. it runs off wince 2.0.

A: You have not provided enough information begin to diagnose the problem. Refer to my article Using MSN as Your Internet Service Provider. Although it is mostly aimed at MSN subscribers, the information is useful to anyone attempting to use a Handheld or Pocket PC with the Internet. Jason Dunn's Configuring Your Dial-up Connection article may help you with specifics even though his advice is specifically for Pocket PC users.

Pocket Calendar
02/26/01 Q
: One of the limitations of ActiveSynch 3.1 by Microsoft that i'm finding as I synch my PocketPC with two computers is that both desktop computers end up with the same calendar. I notice this is explained in ActiveSynch help. is this limitation going to be lifted in the next version? For example, I want all calendar (Outlook) items on my work machine, which I have categorized as "business" to transfer to my pocket PC. I do not want these appointments synchronized on my home computer. Likewise, I want my home computer's appointments, categorized as "personal" to transfer to my PocketPC, but not to my work computer. My pocket PC will combine all items from both my work and home machine, but each desktop machine will only have the items for itself.

A: I am not privy to the future plans for Pocket Calendar. And, if I were, I would not be at liberty to discuss them. That said, I have heard this desire to separate personal and business appointments and contacts when syncing. Perhaps some enterprising 3rd party developer can produce an add-on to deal with this situation.

ActiveSync
02/24/01 Q
: I read the USB but connection is not being made. Running Windows ME on Desktop. Please advise who to call for help.

A: You don't provide enough information for diagnosis. I suggest you try the Microsoft ActiveSync Synchronization Troubleshooter.

Pocket Inbox Attachments on CF Card
02/21/01 Q
: Just upgraded my flash card from 48mb to 192. However I keep getting an annoying "can't find mail attachments" error message whenever I launch Mail. How do I resolve this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A: I assume that you had previously set Inbox to save attachments to your 48MB CF card. If so, copy that directory & files to the new 192 CF card. Otherwise in Pocket Inbox: Tools, Options, Storage (tab), uncheck Store Attachments on storage card

MSN Access
02/07/01 Q
: I am currently trying to connect to MSN via my Ipaq I have a Socket modem for use with my Motorola timeport. I called and spoke with 2 other Microsoft support folks. One thought Windows Ce stood for Corporate Edition I knew I was in trouble. This Ipaq connects and after user authentication it disconnects. I download the MSN E-Mail Client for Pocket PC, and to be honest I don't even know what this is or does...

A: The MSN E-Mail Client for Pocket PCs patches Pocket Inbox to work with MSN's unique (and annoying) Secure Password Authentication POP3 feature. It has nothing to do with the problem you describe. I don't see enough information to diagnose the problem. I suggest you read my article Using MSN as Your Internet Service Provider. If you still have a problem, I suggest visiting one of the many Pocket PC newsgroups or messageboards for additional guidance.

GPS Maps for Paris, France
02/06/01 Q
: I'm a french custumer. I'm using a PDA Jordana 545 with pocket streets.
I would like to know if I can use a gps OENM with, and how ?

If not do you know a good street mapping of Paris for GPS.

A: Unfortunately, I do not follow application internationalization issues at all. I have not seen any Pocket PC GPS software with maps outside of the 48 contiguous continental United States.

Pocket Inbox MSN E-mail Add-on
01/31/01 Q
: I have been calling for help on MSN e-mail client for Pocket PC I have set it up exactly per article as best I can, including the MSN/ on the front of my username. The device dials, connects, reports that it has verified the user id and then says it is setting up send and receive ports. Then it gives me a message saying my user name can't be verified. I have tried everything to move from that point, to no avail. MSN support just told me they don't support the MSN e-mail client - call Microsoft. Microsoft told me that MSN was crazy - its their product and they should support it. Now I can't reach any support at all.

A: Read my PocketPC.com article The Key to MSN Connections: MSN/user name. The MSN/ prefix should only be placed in the modem connection login sequence. Only your username should be placed in the Pocket Inbox configuration. Please refer to Jason Dunn's PocketPC.com article Configure Your Pocket PC for POP-3 E-mail.

Connecting Multiple Devices to a Single Desktop PC
01/30/01 Q
: You wrote in your article "Socket communications USB Sync Card" that you connect 4 devices simultaneously to your PC. I remember that ActiveSync only allows 1 device at a time? So how did you do this with 4 devices?

A: The devices are all connected simultaneously. However, I only sync one at a time.

bSQUARE Messenger
01/26/01 Q
just FYI http://www.bsquare.com/products/p_messngr.htm bsquare link, does not work. as seen on.....http://www.microsoft.com/MOBILE/pocketpc/reviews/bsquare.asp

A: bSQUARE no longer sells software directly to individual consumers. Thus, they removed the links to previously provided applications. The article was written before bSQUARE announced/implemented this decision.

ActiveSync
01/23/01 Q
: I was looking at http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/stepbystep/activesync.asp and there are three bullets dealing with resolving conflicts: Manual resolution. This option is useful, for example, if you use both the Pocket PC and the partnered PC to enter information. Always replacing items on the Pocket PC. In other words, the notebook or desktop PC information is always "right." For example, people who use their Pocket PC most of the time for entering new information find this choice best for them. Always replacing items on the partnered PC. In this case, the Pocket PC is always "right." One reason you might choose this is if you usually enter Contacts and Calendar information on the Pocket PC. Shouldn't the second one say "people who use their *Desktop PC* most of the time for entering new information find this choice best for them." ?

A: If you are saying that you consider your Pocket PC your PIM master and the desktop PC its companion/backup, I understand your point completely. I look at it exactly the same way. Microsoft, however, does not apparently. I mentioned this point of view when I had a chance to meet with some of the Pocket PC development in the Fall of 2000. Some of them found this view interesting. I do not know if we will see an option in ActiveSync to let us clear away the desktop PIM and replace it with our Pocket PC's master PIM data in the future. That is certainly what I would like to see myself!

Pocket Streets
01/18/01 Q
: At one time, Microsoft had a large collection of maps for Pocket Streets 3.02.  That site has disappeared now that Pocket Streets 2001 is out.  Is there any way to get access to those maps again?  I'm perfectly happy with 3.02 and would prefer not upgrading to 2001.  Besides, there are only a dozen or so maps available in 2001, and I don't want to take the time to customize the ones I need.

A: Those maps for 2000 are no longer available. You can, of course, make your own maps using Streets & Trips 2000. The 2001 version maps can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/streets.asp

ActiveSync
01/14/01 Q
: I'm using a serial connection on my Ipaq to transfer files to a 1.0Gb IBM Microdrive. Have my PC's (350Mhz PII, 100Mhz FSB, 256Mb RAM) comm port set set as high it will go via "Device Manager" in Win98 2nd Ed. The Ipaq's ActiveSync won't connect to the PC unless I set it at =<57Kb. Ergo; The tranfer of a large file, i.e. a WMA movie is an exceedingly slow and tedious process. Usually takes an hour or so to transfer a typical WMA movie for Windows Media Player. Any suggestions as to best improve performance? The thought has occured to me that I might limited by the MicroDrive's read/write speed.... but I have no way to ascertain this.

A: (1) Why aren't you using the faster USB sync interface? (2) You may want to consider using a PC Card adapter that fits the Type II MicroDrive and move files via a PCMCIA reader adapter or a notebook PC with a PC Card (PCMCIA) slot.

AvantGo
01/10/01 Q
: Re your article on syncing Avantgo via modem - what do you do if you're going through a proxy server? I can't see any Avantgo settings that allow this.

I've set up my corporate connection to use a proxy server, but when I click modem sync, I get error 5453 server address not resolved". If I connect via my ISP (no proxy) it works fine.

A: I've had problematic encounters with this issue myself. Sometimes you can configure the Applet Mobile Link Control Panel applet with the appropriate settings, account name, and password to get through a proxy server/firewall. Other times, I have not. It seems to depend on how a particular proxy server is configured by the systems adminstrator. Your specific issue is dealt with on AvantGo's web site at http://avantgo.com/help/pocketpchelp/pocketpcsupport/errorcodes.html#5453

Ilium ListPro
01/09/01 Q
: I had a question for you regarding listpro. I have been using it since it comes with my ipaq. However, I have trouble with the category field -specifically, with creating categories so they appear in the drop down box when I edit an item. When I create a new item I know I can specify "category" and the drop down box appears under that field but not anywhere else (Like in the filter area).

A: I am not quite sure what you are seeing. I see the category pull-down menu when I edit an item. You can check with Ilium Software's (ListPro's developer) support area at http://www.iliumsoft.com/support.htm

Transcriber
01/04/01 Q
: I'm a cassiopeia EM-500G user, working with Windows CE in German language. I've tried to install MS Transcriber, but I have an error message while trying to use to that say:" you should first active transcriber to use it". I've tried to re-install the program many times and in some occasion I also had an installation error message saying that Transcriber cannot install its own SIP.dll file. What can I do? Does this program is installable in a German environment?

A: My understanding is that Transcriber is not available in several (all?) internationalized Pocket PC versions. You may want to refer to the public German Microsoft Windows CE/Pocket PC newsgroup for further clarification.

Media Player/Media Manager
12/29/00 Q
: I am trying to download the windows media manager so I can move music to my
pocket pc. I haven't had any luck because the site doesn't seem to go thru. I
only have the 3.0 activesync version and have looked in extras folder but did
not find this program. what are my options or can I get it somewhere else?

A: My understanding is that Microsoft now recommends using Windows Media Player 7.0 for Windows 98/Me/2000 instead of Windows Media Manager.

Wireless Access
12/27/00 Q
: Can I download Msn e-mail if I have wireless access through AT&T wireless services through a Air Card using my iPAQ.

A: It depends on (1) which AT&T Wireless service you are referring to and (2) which Sierra Wireless AirCard you are referring to.

1. AT&T has two completely different wireless services and I don't know which one you are asking about. Are you referring to their TDMA voice wireless service or their CDPD data-only wireless service. If the former, the answer is a definite no. If the latter, the answer is yes if you are referring specifically to the AirCard 300.

2. If you are referring to either the AirCard 400 (Ricochet 128Kbps) or AirCard 510 (CDMA), then the answer is definitely no.

Pocket Inbox MSN E-mail Add-on
12/22/00 Q
: I am having terrible trouble trying to get my mail form MSN. I ahve followed all your instructions , have down loaded msn mail correctly and installed. These are the settings I have

Connection MSN Server: secure.smtp.email.3msn.com
user id MSN/username
password **********
Domian SMTP host for sending pop3.email.msn.com
return address username@msn.com

than the bottom three checked Where have i gone wrong

A: You have the POP3 and SMTP entries reversed.

Transcriber
12/20/00 Q
: When i install the Transcriber, the iPaq show me the following error: The Transcirber SIP-DLL can not be installed. Retry the installation. What can I do to solve this problem please?

A: I have not tried to install Transcriber on a Compaq iPAQ (nor do I want to do so to be honest). Try performing a soft-reset on the iPAQ before attempting to install Transcriber.

Pocket Streets
12/19/00 Q
: Here is a gotcha on the review a the url, http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/stepbystep/pocketstreets.asp You can't view maps created with Streets 2000 with Pocket Streets 2001. Why is this? And where can you find Pocket Streets 2000 for the iPAQ 3650? or am I just missing something?

A: You are not missing anything. The problem is with my article. It was written when the Pocket PC was still in beta-testing. At the time, it supported Streets & Maps 2000. The format changed between 2000 and 2001. The Pocket Streets download available from the Microsoft Pocket PC downloads site is only compatible with Streets & Trips 2001.

Pocket Inbox MSN E-Mail Add-on/Hotmail
12/14/00 Q
: I have a hotmail account and I want to use MSN E-mail to access this account. I own a IPAQ and live in holland. I want to use my existing ISP for connecting to the web. In my inbox I make a new service (pop3.email.msn.com, my username (everything before the '@' right?) my password and the smtp server is my ISP's smtp server). Anyway I don't have to send any mail. When I press send and receive I get the following message: pop3 username is not ok. maybe a bad password or i'm already logged in on a other computer. Both is not the case, what can be the problem?

A: MSN's POP3 based e-mail and Hotmail are totally different services. Hotmail is a web-based e-mail service. The only PC-based client/application that can deal with Hotmail is Outlook Express 5. No Pocket PC based application can directly access Hotmail's message store. The only way you can view Hotmail on your Pocket PC is by accessing the http://www.hotmail.com web site as you would on a desktop PC.

CompactFlash Card Reader
12/05/00 Q
:[...] I have been looking for a PC Card driver able to access the CompactFlash PC Card adapter I bought recently. This card is not recognized by Windows NT 4.0. Is there any location where I could download a driver to be able to read the CompactFlash  as a hard disk, just as you described in the article from you I found on the WEB.

A: You should consult with the manufacturer of the device you purchased since they would be in the best position to supply such a driver. In general, I have found that Windows NT 4.0 did not have a lot of drivers commonly found for Windows 98. You may find that upgrading to Windows 2000 (if that is a viable option) may solve your problem.

CompactFlash Card
11/16/00 Q
: I have tried the suggestions on the link at http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/tips/swapmem.asp regarding using memory cards to store mp3's, but no matter what I do, the Window's media player will only recognize files in the My Documents folder.  I cannot get files to appear in the "all my music playlist" until I place it into the My Documents folder.  This, of course, is a serious limitation, as I can only use the limited memory that ships with the HP Jornada 548.

A: You need to create a My Documents folder on your CompactFlash card (or MMC) and place files in that folder or sub-folders under My Documents on the CF card.

Transcriber
11/13/00 Q
: I tried installing Transcriber onto my HP 720 PocketPC and got a message that Transcriber doesn't work on my unit. Transcriber came with the CD I received with my HP. Does Transcriber work on PocketPC units? How can I get it to work.

A: Your HP Jornada 720 is a Handheld PC 2000 device and not a Pocket PC. Transcriber only works on Pocket PC devices. However, it ships with all copies of ActiveSync 3.1 CD-ROM discs.

Voice Notes
11/11/00 Q
: Saw your column about voice notes on pocketpc.com. Here's a question, I'm a doctor and would like to use the pocketpc for voice dictations but find the installed voice notes limited. Do you know of some voice program that can do the following:

1. Allow you to edit voice notes and use bookmarks to identify sections of a recording? I would really like to build one long voice recording (I have the microdrive) that would contain all the pertinent parts of a patient's admission record. Then, when the patient is discharged, I would simply replay the voice record into the phone for the transcriptionist. Any help would be appreciated.

A: I'm sorry. I don't know the answer to that. However, here is a web site that might be able to provide you with more information: MedicalPocketPC.com

AvantGo
11/10/00 Q
: I've one question to your article about 'Sync AvantGo by Modem'. If the last syncprocess did not finished correctly there is no avantGo menu on my PocketPC and so I can't click on a ModemSync link. What can I do?

A: I've seen that problem too. The way I fix the problem is to sync AvantGo at my desktop PC.

Available Memory
11/01/00 Q
: [I have a ]HP Jornada 548 with 32 MB. I put 3 mp3 files on the HP and deleted them later. But I did not free up memory. I used the explorer to look for any big files still on the pocket_pc but could not find any. Where to look and what to do next?

A: Try a soft-reset. If that doesn't help, then you should definitely use Explorer to look through your HP to see if you really deleted them. Alternatively, did you delete them from your CompactFlash card? If so, it would not affect System RAM available space.

Voice Notes
10/23/00 Q
: Re: Turn Your Voice Note into a WAV File You can do this alot simpler by Exploring on your Pocket PC through ActiveSync, going to Mobile Device/My Pocket PC/My Documents, Copying the sound files you want, and Pasting them into the Folder (in regular Windows Explorer ) on your PC that you want them in. As long as you have recorded the voice files in the right WAV format, as you explained in the beginning of your article, the Sound Recorder Accessory will open and play them fine.

A: That is true if you create a voice note outside of a text memo. My instructions, however, are valid if you embed a voice note in a text memo.
